WAKEFIELD VISIT

On Thursday, September 6th I had the pleasure of visiting the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library in Wakefield. This library does a wonderful job with displays (they have or make display space EVERYWHERE) and with printed informational and marketing materials. I came away with many creative ideas. Two examples: the Library has generic - no staff name - business cards available to hand out at all of the service desks with logo, address, phone & fax, web address, and hours; program flyers/posters are displayed in fun picture frames on an easel in the main lobby. I also spent time learning about reader's advisory and book group services at the Beebe Library, as well as tips about setting up and maintaining technology. Wakefield uses staff scheduling software that allows all staff to view the weekly schedules online. The staff lounge is a fun, inviting space - I felt like I was in Italy or Provence! Thank you to all of the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library for a great visit!
